Several LSWC members attended a 'Race Night' at the BSA Social Club on Saturday 15th November when most of us lost a 'cosiderable' amount of money - well some of us lost a squid or two. Roger did keep saying 'you never see a bookie on a bike'.
Roger, Ann, Andrew (from the BSA Club) and yours truly were on the 'Tote' (selling tickets and handing out winnings). There were 8 races with 8 horses in each race, bets were 50p a go so loosing your shirt wasn't really in the running, come to think of it, none of my horses were in the running either. At the end of the eight scheduled races, horses for a ninth race were auctioned off by Ant and good prices were reached.
My biggest gambler on the final race bet £12 on one horse- it didn't win; silly woman!!! Ah well, I suppose she was just putting back into BSA Club funds what she had won previously.
As with all ‘real’ gamblers, no-one made a loss and all had a good time albeit a little rowdy at times. Next Race Night and I’ll be at the door selling ‘ear defenders’.
