Saturday morning at the shack

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 11/09/2021 by G4STO12/09/2021

Two working parties at the club this morning, Roger G3PVU and Steve M5ZZZ were in the shack sorting out and testing some of the surplus equipment for the sale on 10th October; they were moving so fast the first photo blurred!! Then there was work to be done on the antennas and this party consisted of Les G1LQB, Andy M0IYE, David M7OYN, Daron 2E0GFY and Martin M0TNM.

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 01/09/2021 by G4STO12/09/2021

Peter M0EJL and Roger G3PVU working out the Morse routine for the fourth coming day with Guy Martin at the radio room at East Kirkby.  Messages were sent in Morse code from the radio room to Tom G4OSB and Andy M0KED in the control tower successfully.

Saturday afternoon at the shack

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 28/08/2021 by G4STO12/09/2021

Established in 1921 the club celebrated 100 years of amateur radio on 21st February 2021 unfortunately due to lockdown we were unable to ‘party’,  Once lockdown was eased and we could start meeting again we organised a Sausage and Burger afternoon which took place today.  We were joined by a few members from Hull & District Amateur Radio Society who also celebrate 100 years of amateur radio in Hull this year and from RAF Waddington ARC our neighbouring amateur radio club. A big ‘thank you’ to Linda M0KEDs XYL, Jackie G3PVUs XYL and Steve M5ZZZ for help with the food … Continue reading →

It was a lazy Saturday at the shack last week

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 22/08/2021 by G4STO12/09/2021

Rain forecast so painting was put on hold; a well deserved rest for the team; I just hope they don’t get used to it.  Next week we will be having a celebratory BBQ for our 100th Anniversary.

Another Saturday morning at the shack

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 14/08/2021 by G4STO12/09/2021

When I arrived at the shack this morning Andy M0IYE had already got stuck in distributing the gravel in the parking area; sweat was rolling off me just looking!!  When Stephen M5SJM arrived he levelled the gravel, they certainly earned their cuppa this morning.  I got stuck in finishing off cleaning the BBQ ready for the 28th and then cleaning the chairs; they had been weathered for over two years!!!

Saturday morning at the shack

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 07/08/2021 by G4STO12/09/2021

When I arrived at the club this morning there were cars in the car park but no one in sight apart from three club members waiting to be let into the shack.  I let them in and then started work cleaning the BBQ.  About a hour later the missing members returned; they had been sorting our storage container ready for moving it. As usual Andy M0IYE got stuck in giving the south wall of the shack another coat of paint, I’m not sure what the others were doing, I was still cleaning the BBQ.

Annual General Meeting

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 31/07/2021 by G4STO07/08/2021

At long last we were able to hold our Annual General Meeting.  Before the meeting Andy M0IEY made sure the shack and shed painting was finished, just the fence to finish off now.  I do wish he had wiped his feet before going into the village hall for the AGM. 20 members were present for the AGM which was over in record time; 24 minutes!!  Members of the committee are: Chairman – Steve M5ZZZ Secretary – Pam G4STO  Treasurer = Stephen M5SJM Activity Office – To be co-opted from the list of ordinary committee members below: Ordinary Committee Members: Andy … Continue reading →

Saturday mornings at the shack 24th July 2021

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 24/07/2021 by G4STO07/08/2021

If you call at the shack you will be forgiven for thinking nothing had been done but you would be wrong.  The mission today was to move the shed at the back of the shack, not a five-minute job. Once moved the fence can be finished. Helpers today were, in alphabetical callsign order: G1LQB, M0IYE, M5SJM, M5ZZZ, M7OYN and M7RSF.  G4STO was also there but her job is to take photographs. Heavy duty rachet straps were placed around the shack and fixed to Les’ van but it was impossible to move it full so it had to be emptied which … Continue reading →

Not much work done at the shack today; too hot.

Lincoln Shortwave Club Posted on 17/07/2021 by G4STO07/08/2021

Les G1LQB decided to wash some moss off the path and Pam G4STO finished off painting the shed where she could reach; still two sides to do: the shed is being moved to make it easier.  I had to leave early as I was covered in paint where I shouldn’t have been.
