Continue reading →On the 6th & 7th July the Club was again up at the old Bomb Dump at RAF Scampton for VHF Field Day 2119. This contest ran from 3pm BST on the Saturday to 3pm on the Sunday. 2m & 70cm ran for the whole time while 4m was only on the Sunday. On the friday night Les, G1LQB and Steve M5ZZZ/G6TVP collected the equipment from the shack and took it to the site. Les then camped over. The 2nd June was another busy Saturday morning at the shack; this week concentrating on getting the new pulleys on the trailer mast in readiness for the satellite station’s aerials. Murphy’s Law dictated that the trailer to be worked on was the one blocked in by the other so work started early getting both trailer masts on to the carpark. Old pulleys were removed with the aid of an angle grinder and new pulleys fitted. The course is being run by our trainer, Les G1LQB, on Saturday’s 20th and 27th of July, with the exam at 4pm on the 27th. Cost is £45 which includes the exam fee. This price also includes 6 months membership to the LSWC. This will allow you to take part in any of the events we have planned during that time. Lincoln Shortwave Club have a number of special event stations over the next week. This Week On Saturday 11th May the club is putting on a Special Event Station at Ellis Mill GB5EM for Mills on the Air; setting up from 0900 hours. Ellis Mill is on Mill Road, Lincoln, LN1 3JJ. On Thursday/Friday 16th/17th May GB5DAM – Dambusters Memorial Station will be on air from the shack; operating will commence at 2120 and if there are enough operators will go through the night until 12 noon on the Friday. With equipment being collected during the week, Les G1LQB, Steve M5ZZZ, Ian G4EVK, Barry G4DBS, Tom G4OSB, Fred G4HNQ, Peter 2E0FGA, Roger G3PVU & Jackie were on site early Saturday morning.
